A report in ERR News confirms that Estonia’s former head of road administration has been sentenced over procurement-related infractions:
Harju County Court today handed a four-month conditional sentence to the former head of the Road Administration, Tamur Tsäkko, for violating public procurement law and for breach of trust.
According to the indictment, Tsäkko, who pled not guilty, allowed a contractor to build a one-lane road with a garden bed on the shoulder, instead of the required two-lane road. The road, connecting the towns of Loo and Maardu, cost taxpayers an additional 33,668 euros, reported uudised.err.ee.
The story notes that the same individual was in the news earlier in the year for having misused public funds to pay for a ski vacation in France.
