Why We Stand Out

We practice almost exclusively in the area of procurement law and represent only purchasing institutions, predominantly in the public sector. All of our resources are devoted to this constantly evolving field, and each project we undertake deepens our specialized knowledge and enhances the benefits we provide to all our clients.
We believe that to deliver meaningful procurement solutions to public bodies, professionals must have a thorough understanding of the complexities of public governance. Procurement cannot be isolated from the workings of the institution as a whole. Our lead lawyers have worked in in-house government positions and understand public administration from the inside out.
We have updated the procurement practices of major institutions in all sectors of the public service and provided advice to government ministries and departments on such critical issues as legislative amendments and multi-million dollar tendering-related litigation.

Our select focus on purchaser-side procurement law allows us to stay exceptionally current on emerging trends and to devote ourselves to the development of services that will result in long-term change for client institutions. Our RFX templates are carefully crafted and regularly updated to maintain compatibility with trade treaties, local charters, bylaws and policies, and are structured with a view to meeting the common law tendering duties that apply to purchasing institutions. Our institutional review process integrates and applies over a thousand legal rules and best practices drawn from case law, domestic and international trade treaties, procurement statutes and regulations, procurement directives and public inquiry, task force, and auditor general reports.

Through our affiliate, the Procurement Training Office, we deliver training to procurement professionals from institutions across Canada, both independently and in collaboration with industry groups and with Osgoode Hall Law School. We view personnel training as an integral and often overlooked part of procurement reform, and have the resources and experience needed to ensure that front-line staff can implement the improvements envisioned by management.
